South Australian Jazz Archive Inc : Available CDs : Ellington's Heirs: 'A Tribute To The Duke' - CAJ1

Back to SA Jazz Archive

Formed in September, 2004 for the express purpose of recording the first contemporary CD for the South Australian Jazz Archive Inc, the band comprises six of the State's younger musicians, most of whom are graduates of the Conservatorium at Adelaide University. Somewhat unconventional in line-up, the front line features trumpet and two reed players, supported by piano, string bass and guitar. The music all comes from the mind of Duke Ellington and the head arrangements were decided in the studio.

Production is by Ron Spain and engineering by Rob Brook in his Pyalla Studios at Reynella.
