Aims To compile and maintain a directory of South Australian jazz archival material pertaining to the origin and development of the various styles of jazz, swing, and "hot" dance music in South Australia to the present day.
Objectives The preservation, collection, cataloguing and presentation of all such archival material including particularly relevant performances recorded in South Australia and performances by South Australian musicians elsewhere in the world.
Projects Projects already initiated include:
  • CDs of early recordings
  • CD's of jazz currently being played in Adelaide
  • Fundraising events
  • Functions to honour SA jazz identities
Background The inaugural meeting of the South Australian Jazz Archive was held on July 2nd, 2003. Since then several meetings have been held, the constitution finalised and officers appointed. The organisation has now been incorporated and South Australia joins NSW, Victoria and the ACT all with established Jazz Archives
